Where did October go?
I of course loved halloween as a kid, but now, as a mom, it's so much work and so much sugar, honestly I can't wait for it to be over.
This year, my 9 y.o. girl, T, wanted to be a gravestone. She has never been interested in princesses or fairies, and every year she dresses up as something a little out of the ordinary. (She may be *slightly* affected by my distaste for Disney princesses and pastel-colored nylon .. )
So we made her costume together out of poster board and some of my left-over bias tape.
W, 13, decided to be Kaonashi from Miyazaki's animation film, "Spirited Away".
So off I went to the Garment District, bought 2 yards of black cloth to make a cape, and made a mask for him last night.
Being a party pooper, I would rather give out toothbrushes than candy (obesity? cavities?), but I did get four bags full of gooey teeth-rotting candies. So come by if you're in the city.
